If you’re shooting a .223 or 5.56 rifle and notice your groups opening up after the first few rounds, or you’re fighting to get the dot back on target between shots, this Enhanced Stabilization Attachment is worth a look. It replaces your existing muzzle device and uses a gas jet on top to push the muzzle down as you fire, instead of letting it climb. The result is less felt recoil and a flatter shooting rifle, so you can stay on target for faster follow-up shots without fighting the gun. It’s a practical upgrade for anyone shooting competition, training, or just wanting a more comfortable day at the range.
Will this fit my rifle?
- Thread pattern: 1/2×28 (standard for .223 / 5.56 barrels)
- Caliber: .223 / 5.56 only
- Barrel diameter at muzzle: must be .750” or smaller (this attachment is .750” diameter)
- Overall length: 2.6” — adds about 2.5” past the barrel threads
- Weight: 2.2 oz (63g) — light enough not to change your balance much
- Finish: Salt Bath Nitride (QPQ) — deep black, corrosion-resistant, no shine
What makes it work
- Gas port on top directs expanding gas upward, pushing the muzzle down to counteract rise
- Baffles inside reduce high-pressure gas turbulence in front of the bullet, which helps with accuracy
- Negative recoil impulse is eliminated — the gun doesn’t dip or bounce after the shot
- Comes with a crush washer for installation (check your barrel for a blind pin before removing your old device — see note below)
Install difficulty: 2 out of 5
Basic hand tools: an armorers wrench (for the muzzle device) and a torque wrench (25-30 ft-lbs). If you’ve swapped a muzzle device before, this is straightforward. If not, we have a video showing the install. Important: Before removing your original muzzle device, check with the manufacturer or a gunsmith to see if your barrel has a blind pin holding it in place. Forcing it off can damage the barrel threads.
Frequently asked questions
Does this work on a 14.5” barrel with a pinned muzzle device?
This attachment is 2.6” long, so it will not work as a pinned-and-welded option to meet 16” overall length — it’s too short. It’s designed for standard barrel lengths where you don’t need to pin the device.
Will this reduce flash at night?
No. This is a compensator, not a flash hider. It reduces muzzle rise and recoil, but it will not hide muzzle flash. If you shoot under night vision or in low light, you’ll want a separate flash hider for that use.
Can I use this on a .300 Blackout barrel?
Only if the barrel is threaded 1/2×28 and chambered in .300 Blackout. However, this component is specifically tuned for .223 / 5.56 pressure and gas volume. On .300 Blackout (especially subsonic loads) the performance will be different and not guaranteed to reduce recoil as effectively.
