How hard is it to install?

Difficulty: 1 out of 5 – it’s a thread protector. Screw it on by hand until it seats against the O-ring. No tools needed. If you want to get fancy, a drop of blue Loctite on the threads (not the O-ring) will lock it in place, but the O-ring usually does the job.

Common questions we hear

Will this work on my Glock 19 with a threaded barrel?

If your barrel has 1/2×28 threads (standard for 9mm), yes. Just make sure the barrel’s thread pitch matches – this protector is designed for common pistol threads, not rifle or metric sizes.

Does the O-ring really keep it from coming loose?

In our experience, yes. The captured O-ring compresses when you tighten the protector by hand, creating enough friction to keep it from backing off during a magazine or two. If you’re running a lot of rounds, you might want to give it a snug check between sessions.

Can I use this on a barrel that already has a compensator?

Not directly – the protector goes on bare threads. If you swap a comp on and off, it’s handy to have this to protect the threads when the comp’s not mounted.
