If you own an M&P (9mm or .40 S&W) and want a trigger that feels cleaner and more predictable without turning your pistol into a race gun, this drop-in trigger kit is exactly what you’re after. It’s designed to take the grit, stacking, and long reset out of your factory trigger, giving you a smooth 5.0 to 5.5 lb. pull that’s still heavy enough for everyday carry or duty use. The real win here is the shorter over-travel and noticeably quicker reset, which means you can stay on target and shoot faster without fighting the trigger.
Will this fit your M&P?
This kit is a direct drop-in for most M&P 9mm and .40 S&W pistols. It requires the larger 1/8 inch sear spring and plunger setup. If your gun has the older 1/16 inch sear plunger, you’ll need to upgrade the sear housing block before installing this kit.
- Smith & Wesson M&P 9mm (full size, compact, and Shield Plus — verify sear plunger size)
- Smith & Wesson M&P .40 S&W (full size and compact)
- Will not fit M&P 2.0 models with the hinged trigger — check your sear housing block
- Does not fit M&P Shield (original) or M&P Bodyguard
Key features
- Reduces pull weight by roughly 1 lb. to a consistent 5.0–5.5 lb. range

- Smooth, crisp break with a short, positive reset
- Maintains factory safety values — uses a center-mounted pivoting safety
- Drop-in design: no filing, grinding, or fitting required
Install difficulty: 3 out of 5
You’ll need a punch set, a small hammer, and a little patience. The kit drops in, but you do have to swap the sear spring and plunger. If you’ve detail stripped an M&P before, this is a 20-minute job. If you haven’t, watch our install video — it walks you through each step. Plan for about 30–45 minutes your first time.
Short FAQ
Will this work in my M&P 2.0?
It depends on your sear housing block. The 2.0 pistols with the 1/8 inch sear plunger are good to go. If you have the older 1/16 inch plunger, you’ll need to swap the sear housing block first. Check your gun or give us a call — we’re happy to help you figure it out.
Do I need to polish anything?
No. The components are engineered to work together as-is. You can polish contact points if you want, but it’s not required for the kit to function correctly.
Is this safe for carry?
Yes. The kit keeps the pull weight in the service pistol range and maintains all factory safety features. It’s a common upgrade for duty and carry guns.
