If you’re looking to squeeze a few more rounds out of your Smith & Wesson SD or SDVE magazine without swapping to a whole new mag, this extended base pad is a straightforward fix. It adds three rounds to your standard 9mm magazine, or two rounds if you’re running .40 S&W. The idea is simple: more capacity means less reloading during a range session or class, and it keeps the mag length manageable enough to still fit most pouches. This component replaces the factory base pad, giving you that extra bit of ammo without changing the feel of the grip.

Install difficulty
Difficulty: 1 out of 5 — This is about as easy as it gets. You’ll just need a small punch or a paperclip to depress the magazine spring retainer, then slide off the old base pad and snap on the new one. No disassembly of the magazine tube itself. Most folks can do it in under two minutes. If you’ve ever swapped a base pad before, you already know the drill. If not, we’ve got a quick install video on the product page to walk you through it.
Short FAQ
Will this work with my factory 10-round magazines?
Yes, it will fit standard-capacity 10-round magazines for the SD, SDVE, and Sigma series. Just note that the capacity increase is based on the magazine’s original design — so a 10-round 9mm mag becomes a 13-round mag, and a 10-round .40 mag becomes a 12-round mag.
Do I need to buy a different spring or follower?
No, the factory spring and follower work just fine with this base pad. The extension simply gives the spring more room to compress, which allows for the extra rounds. No aftermarket internals required.
