If you’ve ever tried swapping out the trigger on a Hi-Power or SA-35, you know that trigger pin can be a real bear. The frame is soft enough that a standard punch or a slip of the hammer can leave a nasty dent or burr—right where you’ll see it every time you pick up the gun. This Trigger Pin Removal Punch is purpose-built to solve exactly that headache. It’s machined from heat-treated steel, so it won’t mushroom or bend, and it’s shaped to fit the trigger pin recess without marring the surrounding frame. Whether you’re installing a new trigger or just doing a detail strip, this tool makes the job cleaner and safer for your firearm.
Compatibility
- Springfield Armory SA-35
- Browning Hi-Power (all standard models)
- Girsan MC P35
Key Features
- Prevents frame damage – the punch tip is profiled to clear the frame’s trigger pin channel, so you’re not hammering steel against aluminum or soft alloy.
- Heat-treated steel construction – won’t deform after repeated use. One tool, a lifetime of trigger swaps.
- 100% Made in USA – machined and finished domestically.
- Designed for the correct drift direction – the Hi-Power / SA-35 trigger pin drives out from right to left. This punch is sized to start from the right side and extract cleanly out the left.
Install Difficulty
2 out of 5 – straightforward if you have a sturdy bench block or non-marring vise. You’ll need a small hammer (a brass or nylon mallet preferred), a roll of masking tape or a padded clamp to hold the frame steady, and this punch. Watch the install video linked below—it’s about three minutes and shows exactly where to strike.
Short FAQ
Will this work on a standard Browning Hi-Power made in Belgium?
Yes. The trigger pin dimensions are the same across all standard BHP models, as well as the SA-35 and Girsan MC P35. If your gun uses a captive trigger pin with a spring-loaded detent, this punch is still the right tool—just make sure you support the opposite side of the frame so the pin doesn’t fly out.
Do I need to remove the grips first?
Yes. Take the grips off before you start driving the trigger pin. That gives you clear access to both sides of the frame and lets you see exactly where the pin is. It also prevents the grips from cracking if the punch slips.
Is there a video showing the full procedure?
Absolutely. We’ve got a short install video that walks you through removing the trigger pin and reinstalling it: https://youtu.be/w-lzY2pi-1M. Watch it once before you start—it’ll save you a lot of cuss words.
